The Clane-Maynooth Municipal District (MD) Office will carry out a speed survey along the R403 Clane Inner Relief Road.
Kildare County Council (KCC) told local representatives for the MD at the first meeting of the term, which was held on Friday, September 6 last.
The subject was raised by Independent councillor Pádraig McEvoy, via a motion which read as follows: "That the council considers the installation of 'islands' and other traffic calming measures, as required, on the existing R403 Clane Inner Relief Road, following a series of vehicle collisions and in anticipation of an induced increase of movements by motorised vehicles with the opening of the Capdoo road extension."
In response, KCC told Cllr McEvoy that the MD Office would carry out a speed survey along the Clane Inner Relief Road, 'which will guide / determine any course of action required.'
However, KCC added: "The existing road widths may not permit islands."
