Kildare hotel named Sustainability Champion at Historic Hotels Worldwide Awards of Excellence

The K Club in County Kildare was named as Sustainability Champion at the 2024 Historic Hotels Annual Awards of Excellence Ceremony and Gala that took place in Hot Springs, Virginia, USA on November 21.

The K Club is one of more than 350 hotels and resorts in the world that is recognised by Historic Hotels Worldwide for preserving and maintaining its historic integrity, architecture, and ambiance. The Historic Hotels Worldwide Sustainability Champion award is presented to the hotel that best implements and practices innovative green initiatives and programs whilst demonstrating historic preservation.

The award has been presented on the cusp of The K Club unveiling its new hydro-power system that has seen an ambitious restoration project that will allow the hotel to once again harness the energy generated by the estate’s stretch of the River Liffey. This will make The K Club the first five star hotel in Ireland to be hydro-powered.
