A Naas E-scooter user was fined €50 for riding on a footpath in Naas recently.
When stopped, the rider told Gardaí they were not aware of the legislation or laws covering the use of E-scooters.
A Naas Garda spokesperson said: "An electric scooter or E-scooter is a stand-up scooter powered by an
electric motor. It comes under the new category of powered personal transporters (PPTs).
"It is designed to be used by one person only. It is each individual's responsibility to be aware of legislation covering these."
A fine of €50 was issued to the rider.
