Planning permission has been refused for the construction of 43 homes at Skenagun/Garterfarm, Castledermot, Co Kildare.
On the December 23 2024, an appeal that was lodged with An Bord Pleanála upheld Kildare County Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the residential development.
According to Construction Information Services (CIS), the proposed development, on behalf of Corestone 4 Limited, consisted of 43 housing units (comprising 15 three-bedroom single-storey courtyard houses; four single-storey four-bedroom courtyard houses; 12 two-bedroom two-storey houses; 12 three-bedroom two-storey houses).
Also included in the plans were 55 dedicated parking spaces and bicycle and bin storage.
Vehicular access was from R418, with provision of new access road connecting to existing estate roads (Oak road and Beech Close).
There was also to be provision of two pedestrian footbridges and a single new vehicular access over the existing stream; provision of a linear park 10 metres either side of the stream; a natural play area; attenuation area; pumping station; open space and associated site works over a total application site area of 2.19ha.
The application was accompanied by a natura impact statement. (An Bord Pleanála Ref: 319442)
