A Fine Gael councillor has called on Kildare County Council to carry out an assessment of need for additional traffic calming measures on the Dunlavin approach to Brannockstown, to include the junction at Ballymore Road.

Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer is to table her motion at a meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District on Wednesday January 15 2025.

Separately, Cllr Noel Connolly (SF) is to ask that the council carry out a needs assessment for a yellow box at the meeting of White Abbey Road and Cleamore Road in Kildare Town, where they intersect with the R445 Monasterevin Road.

Meanwhile, Councillor Peggy O’Dwyer also sought confirmation if the Orbital Ring Road at Lidl, Newbridge is fully taken in
charge by Kildare County Council?

In a separate motion, Cllr O'Dwyer called on the council to explore the possibility of a footpath from the Rathcurragh/Tracey's
Meadows Estates, Newbridge side as she said that presently there is no safe crossing to get to
the footpath that runs on the opposite side of the road where two primary schools are
located.

Liffey Bridge

Meanwhile, Cllr Noel Heavey (FF) has called on the council to provide information on "all outstanding issues for construction and opening of the second Liffey Bridge in Newbridge."

According to a motion to be raised by Cllr Heavey, this would include the proposed schedule for submission of a business plan, putting finance in place, tendering and all other issues relevant to construction and opening of the bridge.

Dereliction

Cllr Noel Connolly (SF) is to table a question on derelict properties in the municipal district.

His question asks: "Can the council outline the progress being made with all Compulsory Purchase Orders of derelict properties that have been commenced since January 2023 in this municipal district?"

A similar question is to be raised by Cllr Brian O’Loughlin (FF) as he asks the municipal district committee: "Can the council confirm what is the status of/plan for the row of derelict cottages in Kildare Town known as Fairview Cottages?"

Development levies

Finally, Cllr Chris Pender (SD) is to ask the council for a detailed breakdown of development levies collected in the municipal district.

This is to include information on "the specific projects that these levies are earmarked to contribute towards."

According to Cllr Pender, this should include allocations for local infrastructure improvements such as libraries, playgrounds and recreational spaces.

All questions and motions will be heard at the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting on Wednesday January 15 2025.
