'No funding' currently available to widen the road from Lakeside Park/Watercress Manor to the Meadows Roundabout, Newbridge - council

There is 'no funding' currently available to widen the road from Lakeside Park/Watercress Manor to the Meadows Roundabout, Newbridge, Kildare County Council has stated.

The local authority was responding to a motion tabled by Cllr Tom McDonnell (Ind) at the January meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, held on January 15 2025.

A report issued by the council stated: "The upgrade of this section of road and the widening of the bridge over the railway line has been included in the Newbridge Area Based Transport Assessment, which is currently being finalised and which will inform the Newbridge Local Area Plan (LAP.)"

The report concluded: "There is no funding in the capital programme or the resources available to deliver this infrastructure upgrade at present."
