Major road safety operation in place for Bank Holiday weekend in Kildare

A major road safety operation is due to take place in Kildare this weekend ahead of St Patrick's day on the Bank Holiday Monday.

Gardaí have reminded motorists that this is an especially busy time on the roads and has urged drivers to "slow down and put away the phone".

In a post on Facebook, An Garda Síochána Kildare said,

"The St Patrick’s Bank Holiday Weekend can be an especially dangerous time for all road users with Increased Traffic Volumes on our Roads

"An Garda Síochána Kildare have put a Major Road Safety Operation in place for this busy bank holiday weekend. Enforcement Actions will be significantly increased throughout the County.

"We are urging all drivers to slow down, wear your seat belt, put away the phone, focus on the road, take breaks and never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol."
