M7 works starting tomorrow morning involve splitting of lanes on the eastbound M7 carriageway after Junction 1

Tomorrow morning more works start

Today, the next phase of the M7 widening project will begin new lane changes.

A statement from Kildare County Council said: "Subject to completion of all necessary activities and favourable weather conditions the next section of M7 eastbound mainline traffic will commence movement onto the new carriageway surface adjacent to the new central median from 6am on Thursday morning."

The first stage will involve splitting the traffic lanes on the eastbound M7 carriageway after Junction 11 (M9 Northbound merge) for approximately 1 km with traffic rejoining well in advance of Junction 10 (Naas south).

Motorists are advised to use both lanes at all times.

This arrangement will facilitate the completion of the new middle lane in this section and following these works two lanes over this section will run on the new surface adjacent to the median. Exact date to be confirmed.

A minimum of two lanes will be maintained during peak hours of 6am to 10pm at all times. Once traffic has been moved across works will continue to the adjacent verge/hard shoulder areas which will include for the tie in of new slip lanes.

The Emergency Lane will be retained on both carriageways within the works areas as far as practicable.
