Parking Permits may be issued for residents in a Newbridge estate to stop illegal parking.

Páirc Mhuire is close to the town centre and is often used as a convenient and free parking zone while motorists shop or work nearby.

After representations from councillors, Kildare Co Council acknowledged there were a number of issues regarding parking in the area.

The Council said: "If the residents wish to discuss and propose an agreed plan/proposal, then discussions can take
place with the Pay Parking Section."

Councillor Seán Power said there were constant parking difficulties being experienced by the Páirc Mhuire
residents.

He asked the Council to enter into discussions with the residents with a view to drawing up a plan to resolve the matter.

Councillor Morgan McCabe also called for a parking permit system to facilitate housing estates that are under pressure with illegal parking, in particular Páirc Mhuire.

The issue was raised at yesterday's local Municipal District meeting.
