Casting ballots

Voting is under way across the Kildare in the European Parliament Elections and local authority elections.

There is also a proposal to change the Constitution in relation to divorce, while there will be a plebiscite on directly elected mayors in Limerick, Waterford and Cork city.

Polling stations opened at 7am and will remain open until 10pm.

Most voters will get at least three ballot papers, including one for European Parliament Elections and one for local council elections.

The European Elections will see 13 candidates elected, although due to Brexit only 11 of these will take their seats immediately.
