Boy (5) and man (30s) killed in Offaly collision involving car and lorry today

A five-year-old boy and a man in his 30s have died after a collision between a car and an articulated lorry in Co Offaly.

The incident happened near Killeigh on the N80 Tullamore to Mountmellick road at around 5pm today.

A young girl has been airlifted to Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin with life-threatening injuries. Another young boy is being treated for his injuries at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

The male driver of the truck (only occupant) was also taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore with minor injuries.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Garda forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.
