Johnny in squad photo last night
The clock was turned back last night as former Kildare All Star Johnny Doyle made his debut for the Junior team in St Conleth's Park in Newbridge.
Wearing the number 21 shirt, Allenwood veteran Doyle came on as a sub in the second half to loud cheers from the crowd.
The 41-year-oild went on to help the Junior side win by nine points in the Leinster semi-final tie.
Kildare will now play Meath in the Leinster Final in Croke Park on Sunday, June 23.
One Kildare GAA fan said on Twitter: "There's no doubt Johnny Doyle retired too soon from the Kildare Senior Footballers.
"Great to see him lining out with the Juniors and it would be brilliant if he picked up a medal.
"Invaluable to have him involved with the underage setup in the county."
Another supporter said it was "worth the trip to Newbridge" to see Doyle play.
The Allenwood forward retired in April 2014 after 14 seasons involved with the Kildare senior side.
He won a Leinster senior medal in his debut season in 2000 and followed it up with a Division 2 League medal two years later.
He won an All-Star award in 2010 when Kildare reached the All-Ireland semi-final but were beaten by Down.
