Athy Train Station
Appeals are being made by a South Kildare TD to consider running an early morning train from Athy to Dublin.
Fianna Fail Deputy Fiona O’Loughlin recently met with the Chief Executive of Irish Rail to discuss a number of issues, including an early-bird services from Athy.
Deputy O'Loughlin said:“There are huge benefits to having this service and it will allow continued population growth to Athy and the surrounding areas. I know many constituents that commute daily from the Athy station and have often expressed frustration that they cannot access earlier trains to start work earlier."
She said:“Many people travelling for hospital appointments have also told me that they worry about the trains delays in the morning so they try to secure alternative transport to avoid worrying about missing their appointments”.
Deputy O'Loughlin says she is not willing to let the matter rest, and will continue to press for such a service from Athy.
