Dunlavin based artist Shay O’Byrne has won the Hanley Energy Award for landscape of distinction at this years Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) Annual Exhibition for his painting ‘Moonlight, Lugnaquilla’.
He was presented with the award at the prize-giving ceremony at the RHA Gallagher Gallery, Ely Place, Dublin on Sunday 19th May.
The exhibition which features over 500 works from artists all over Ireland continues until 10th August.
Originally from Dublin, his move to Dunlavin many years ago, and the West Wicklow landscape has been a major influence on his work.
He will be showing some paintings in the Market House at Dunlavin Arts Festival again this year which runs 21 st – 23 rd June.
