The notes in the window

The retail unit previously occupied by Kellys Opticians in Newbridge is currently available to let for a rent of over €18,000 per year.

The long-established Opticians on Edward Street closed in the past few weeks.

Two hand-written notes left in the window revealed to the public that the business had ceased trading.

Patients were thanked for their custom and loyalty over the past 33 years.

The notes also add that patient files have been secured and could be obtained by written request to the Edward Street address enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Jordan Auctioneers said the 790 sq. feet (73 sq. metres) premises comprises of ground floor and first floor.

The unit rental price is €247.96 per sq. m (€23.04 per sq. ft) per year

The auctioneers said it is available for a new tenant to move in immediately.

The unit mainly provides open plan retail accommodation with a small portioned office to the rear.

The first floor provides two offices, a canteen and a toilet.

The property has been operating as Kellys Opticians since the mid 1980s.

Jordans also said the property has a mix of air conditioning and electric storage heating.
