 Monasterevin residents are flying the flag for Ireland in Lebanon.

Seven  members of 114 Infantry Battalion reside in Monasterevin.

They are part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) who were deployed in May.

Their names are Cpl Darragh Stafford, Pte Lee Moore,Cpl Cian Harrison,BSM Patrick Balfe (Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Battalion)Pte Dean Porter ( the youngest soldier in the Battalion at 21 years),Cpl Andrew Kelly and Pte Jason Dunne.

They  are carrying out  a six months tour of duty and will return home  this November.
