Kildare punter wins nearly €10k with series of 50 cent bets

Big pay-out for canny racegoer

The celebrations of four winning horses at Wolverhampton reverberated as far as Kildare on Monday when a punter landed a stunning coup with a series of €0.50 bets.

The anonymous Lilywhite native found the perfect start to the week when they walked into a local BoyleSports shop and placed a €0.50 Lucky 15 bet on four horses with a total stake of €7.50.

The ambitious wager got off to a flier when 28/1 selection Primeiro Boy won the opener at Wolverhampton, while 4/1 shot Rich Belief followed up in the 3.15.

Micronize (12/1) then held on by a very narrow margin in the 3.45 leaving the bet one leg away from the jackpot.

Their hopes now rested on the appropriately named Moment Of Hope at 11/2 in the 4.45 and he took to the rails in the final furlong to get up by a neck and spark the scenes of celebration in Kildare.

The lucky punter was then able to swap their betting slip for a very satisfying total of €9,449.50.

Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented: “This was certainly one way to wipe away the Monday blues and we send huge congratulations to our latest big winner in Kildare.

""e must salute their savvy picking and we hope the winnings go down well.”
