A man was released on bail after his mother spoke to a Naas District Court judge on Thursday, November 24.

The man in question appeared during a private sitting of Naas District Court.

It was heard that the man had broken a window in his family home, and when gardaí came down to the home, he became abusive towards them and even threatened to cause harm to them and their family members.

Judge Desmond Zaidan had remanded the man into custody for one week, and asked that the man’s mother attend the next court case so he could hear from her.

She said that when he came home, an argument erupted between them, which resulted in her kicking him out of the home.

The mother then told the judge that he then broke the window to his bedroom and attempted to enter back into the home, which is when she called the gardaí on him.

She also told Judge Zaidan that despite the incident with gardaí, he is not a violent man.

Commenting on his behaviour on the night, she said: "That was not (like) him."

The man apologised to gardaí for his behaviour during the incident, which he also did on the last court date.

It was also heard that while the judge asked a doctor to assess the man, the man said that he had not seen a doctor while he was in custody.

Judge Zaidan decided to release the man on bail until the case resumes next year, and also appointed a probation officer to his case.
