Sustainable transport projects for the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District (MD) in 2023 were detailed in a presentation to local councillors.
It was delivered at the latest MD meeting, which was held on Friday, December 2. Kildare County Council said that climate action and providing different avenues for road users to traverse the MD would be heavily emphasised in the projects.
The projects listed for the new year include: the Maynooth North-South Corrider (which is due for construction next year), the Royal Canal Green Way (which is undergoing construction and due to be completed in 18 months), Kilcock Road Active Travel Scheme (which is in the Part 8 and detailed design stages) and the Celbridge Road AT Scheme (which is also in Part 8 and detailed design stages).
Projects in the plan which are currently underway include: Cycle Parking in Town Centres, Schools and Sports Clubs, Cycle Safety Improvements at current junctions, Meadowbrook Avenue Travel Scheme, Bond Bridge-Leixlip AT Scheme, BusConnects bus stops, Safe Routes to School, and VRU improvements and crossings and junctions.
