Kildare man allegedly stole from charity shop in Newbridge

ACCUSATION

Naas District Court was told on Thursday, December 15, that a man allegedly shoplifted from a charity store.

Charles Cawley, with an address given as 6 Ruanbeg Park, Ruanbeg Manor at Kildare town, was accused of stealing two handbags worth a combined total of €75, at the National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) shop at The Courtyard Shopping Centre in Newbridge on June 21, 2021.

When it was heard that the 22-year-old defendant was unable to attend court due to illness, Judge Desmond Zaidan adjourned the case to February 9, 2023, to allow time for Mr Cawley to elect which court he wishes his case to be heard in.

The judge also granted bail for the defendant until this date.
