Reports of the imminent closure of a community care facility in Kildare have been rubbished by the HSE.
According to a local publication, the Maynooth Community Care Unit at the Harbour was in danger of closing, but the HSE have refuted those claims and stated that refurbishment works will even be carried out on the facility next if planning permission goes through. Following the recent reports of a closure, Kildare North Labour representative Emmet Stagg contacted the manager of the HSE in Kildare.
The HSE responded by stating;
''We have received a number of queries regarding the Unit. The Unit is currently registered with HIQA and is due to be re-registered in 2018 as per HIQA Regulations. Plans have been submitted regarding refurbishment. It is not true that the Unit is going to close''.
Welcoming the clear confirmation from the HSE that it is not true that the Maynooth Community Care Unit is going to close but in fact the HSE are going to refurbish it, Kildare North Labour representative Emmet Stagg stated that the 38 bed unit is a state of the art facility for our elderly people. The staff there provide excellent care to our elderly and will continue to do so.
