Co Kildare international cyclist Caroline Ryan, who faces up to 8 weeks in rehab after a crash, has given her time to help out a charity cycle.

Johnstown native Caroline (36), who lives in Straffan, suffered a broken collarbone in a collision at the Track Cycling World Championships in London earlier this month.

The serving garda is currently recovering from surgery but it could be early May before she will get back on the bike.

She tweeted a snap of herself wearing her black sling and said: "Meeting up with riders getting on their bikes for a worthy cause at the 12 hour Indoor Cycle in aid of ChildLine."

The event took place in Dunboyne Community Centre in Co Meath last week.

Caroline, who is a member of the Garda Cycling Club, won a bronze medal in the Track World Cycling Championships in Melbourne four years ago.
