19:10 Friday 19th of May 2017
The All Ireland Turf Footing Championships and Country Fair returns on June 11th for its fourth consecutive year.
Developed in 2014 and hosted during the turf harvesting season, the All Ireland Turf Footing Championships in Ballyteague satisfies the competitive streak of men, women, seniors and young turf footers both experienced and inexperienced.
There is also a demonstration of breast sleán turf cutting on a large piece of bog specially imported for the day, as well as a bog churn competition.
There will be demonstrations on the day of open fire bread making, butter churning, a 19th century working kitchen and a vintage display which includes the most iconic car in Irish history, Michael Collins “Sliabh na mBan”.
