Judge tells Co Kildare Garda provide victim impact statement if he wishes

A Co Kildare man appeared before Naas District Court facing charges of threatening  a Garda.

The 54-year-old man with an address at Robertstown, is facing charges of obstructing a Garda during his duty, on July 19, 2016.

Inspector Mel Smyth outlined at Naas District Court how Garda Kevin Williamson was on duty with a female Garda.

The court heard evidence how the son of the accused had been searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act and that his phone had been seized.

Evidence was heard how the son of the accused had left the scene and Gardaí knocked on the door to be met by his father who allegedly threatened Garda Williamson 'would be got'  if his son's phone was not returned.

Judge Desmond Zaidan advised Garda Williamson that he could provide a victim impact statement if he wished.

Defence Timmy Kennelly requested a Probation Report for the accused.

The accused has been ordered to appear before Naas District Court on February 21, 2018, for a Probation Report.
