Naas District Court today heard how a Co Kildare family are at 'risk of losing their home.'

The charges relate to Kildare County Council making an application for the mother of three children to pay arrears of over €2,000.

Evidence was given by a spokesperson for Kildare County Council Housing Section that the mother made the first payment in over two years yesterday.

The court heard how €900 was paid yesterday.

The accused told the court how she could not attend court as she could not afford to lose out on pay.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said: "If she does not pay in any meaningful way, she is putting herself at risk of losing the house."

Defence Solicitor Thomasina Connell said: "My client has been making payments of €50, but they are saying that the payments are sporadic."

Defence told the court that she is a mother of three children, and that she is finding it difficult to make payments.

According to Defence, the accused earns €270 per week.

Judge Zaidan said: "She will have to pay the €50 every week."

The court ordered that there is liberty to reenter and the matter has been put back until April 19, next.
