Kildare Gardai warn: €100 fine for no dog licences or collars

Gardai in Kildare Town have reminded pet owners about their obligations under the Control of Dog Act.

All dogs over four months of age must have a dog licence.

Not having a €20 dog licence can result in an on-the-spot fine of €100 - or fine of €2,500 and/or 3 months in jail if prosecuted. 

Dog must be under your control outside your home or premises.

Dogs must at all times wear a collar that bears the name and the address of the owner inscribed on it or on a plate, badge or disc.

Failure to have a collar on the pet will result in a €100 fine - or fine of €2,500 and/or 3 months in jail if prosecuted.

Failure to have identification on a dog can result in an on-the-spot fine issued by a dog warden.
