Kildare hurlers seeking to round off good week for the county against Meath this afternoon

The Kildare hurlers will be hoping to go within one game of capturing their second Christy Ring Cup title in three years when they host Meath in the semi-final of the competition this afternoon in Newbridge.

Kildare claimed an unlikely victory in the competition back in 2014, and progression to the final of this year's tournament would represent a fine first year in charge for new manager Joe Quaid.

The two sides met last year at the quarter-final stage, and Kildare emerged as comfortable winners from that tie, but the Royals have been ticking along nicely so far this year and they should prove to be a step up in class from previous opponents London and Wicklow.

It has been a good week in general for the Kildare footballers as the minor and senior footballers both won their respective Leinster Championship quarter-finals yesterday, while the Kildare U23 footballers won their Leinster Junior Championship tie against Meath on Wednesday evening.

Throw-in is scheduled for 2.30pm this afternoon, and KildareNow will be reporting live from the home of Kildare GAA to bring you all the action as it happens.
