Kildare man involved in NCT scam to be sentenced next week

The three men who were involved in an NCT scam where defective vehicles were passed through as roadworthy will be sentenced next week.
Stephen Rooney (37), Alan Richardson (28) and Vincent Brunton (34) were arrested and charged following a garda investigation in the wake of an RTÉ Prime Time documentary in 2011.
Mr Brunton, a resident of St Raphael's Manor in Celbridge, pleaded guilty to making a face NCT certificate on April 20 2011 after being involved in the scam with Mr Rooney and Mr Richardson at an NCT centre in Dublin. The men were to receive a payment of €100 to pass two Toyota vehicles that had previously failed the NCT test.
Mr Brunton had no previous convictions and Gardaí say that he cooperated fully with their investigations into the matter, and his defence outlined how he was now working as a mechanic and supporting his wife and three children, while testimonials were also read to outline how he had a 'high level of technical skill' and was a 'decent hard-working family man.'
