Residents who were left 'high and dry' following a failed water scheme in the Balyna area are set to be refunded the money that they paid towards the scheme.
The news was confirmed by local Fianna Fáil TD James Lawless, who outlined that there are exceptional circumstances which have led to the reimbursement of monies that was paid by locals a number of years ago.
“Long before I entered politics this scheme was set up and over the years efforts made to get it going however residents in the Balyna area have been left high and dry," remarked Deputy Lawless.
“I have been working with Paddy Magurie and others in the Broadford Residents Association to push this matter over the line, including having raised this in the Dáil and with Kildare County Council.
“The Department has confirmed that monies, in this specific scheme, will be paid to the relevant members who will be written to in the coming week. This is not ordinarily done by the Department but give the exceptional circumstances residents will be getting refunds-something which is very welcome” concluded Deputy Lawless.
