A Co Kildare  based Reverend at the Genesis II Church appeared before Naas District Court on a charge of assault causing harm.

The 72-year-old man, with an address in Moone,  represented by Solicitor Conal Boyce, on last Wednesday, at Naas District Court, is charged with Section 3 assault causing harm, on January 9, 2019.

Garda Aisling O' Mahony outlined how she arrested the accused on Wednesday afternoon and that he said that he has nothing to add to his statement.

Judge Desmond Zaidan ordered that the accused have no contact with the injured party.

He ordered that the case is put back for four weeks for Director of Public Prosecution summary.

He was granted bail on his own bond of €400.

In court, the Reverend said: "I would ask that he would not have any contact with me either."

Judge Zaidan said: "I can't tell him to go about doing his job, he is the alleged victim."

The Judge asked that the Garda would perhaps suggest that while the matter is going on, another colleaque would take over.
