Cold and windy today with highest temperatures of only 1 to 3 degrees amidst blustery easterly winds. Snow showers will continue to occur during the morning across Co Kildare but will become more scattered in the afternoon and evening. Again, motorists are warned  not to make any un-necessary journeys, especially along rural roads.

Keep an eye on local Community Text Alerts for updates, on Kildare County Council website and AA Roadwatch.

Tonight, Met Eireann predicts there will be further but occasional snow showers with most of the province staying dry and clear. However there'll be a widespread severe frost with lows of 0 to -3 degrees in moderate easterly winds.

Bank Holiday Monday will be a largely dry day but still cold although with a slight improvement in temperatures; max values of 4 or 5 degrees. The easterly winds will continue to moderate.
