Kildare native, Celine Byrne will perform for Pope Francis on Saturday week at Croke Park and will also duet with the renowned Andrea Bocelli.

Miss Byrne is expected to perform after His Holiness addresses the packed attendance.

The concert in Croke Park on Saturday will feature 2,000 performers and is entitled the 'Festival of Families'. Pope Francis's visit over the weekend of 25 and 26 August has signalled one of the largest security operations and national excitement since the last Pope's visit, John Paul, in 1979.

The Kildare Soprano has won universal acclaim following her operatic début as Mimi, in Scottish Opera’s 2010 production of La Bohéme. Since then, Miss Byrne has performed on international stages throughout Europe as well as in the United States, China, Russia and Mexico.

Byrne’s velvety, elegant soprano voice has marked her out for stunning performances as Agathe (Der Freischütz), Mimi (La Bohéme), Rusalka (Rusalka), and more recently, as Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly with the Moscow State Opera.
