Changes to the UPMC Kildare Hospital Limited in Clane in Co Kildare have been given the green light.
The 39-bed hospital on the Prosperous Road offers a variety of medical and surgical specialty care along with access to diagnostics and on-site physiotherapy.
The healthcare facility offers expertise in several specialties including orthopaedics, urology, endoscopy, paediatrics, and general surgery.
New roof lights will be built to the rear of the building to existing offices and to recovery areas.
New rooflights are also being constructed to the front of the building, where an existing first floor store room is being converted to provide office accommodation.
Permission was also granted for an electrical substation and a generator enclosure with fuel store.
Planning permission was granted last year for a two-storey rear extension.

A plant room was also approved at first floor level.
Permission was also granted for the construction of a single-storey Central Surgical Supply Department which plays a vital role in patient safety and in reducing hospital surgical infection.
