A burglary allegedly took place on a barge: that's according to gardaí present in Naas District Court on Thursday, July 4 last.

Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan about the alleged incident, which they say involved one John Flynn, with an address listed as 8 Millbank in Sallins, but who is currently remanded in custody.

The 42-year-old appeared before Judge Zaidan via video-link.

It was alleged that on June 27 last, the accused trespassed onto a barge located in Osberstown, Sallins.

According to gardaí, a weapon was allegedly used by the defendant during the burglary, although the exact type of alleged weapon was not disclosed before the court.

As no directions were not yet indicated from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Judge Zaidan remanded Mr Flynn in custody until July 18, in order to allow time for DPP directions.
