€507,500 of funding has been announced for the Kildare & Wicklow Further Education and Training Board (KWETB) by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless. The funding comes as part of €8 million in capital grants for 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs).
The devolved capital grant will help the KWETB carry out small-scale works and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring projects are advanced quickly and efficiently.
Minister Martin Heydon said of the news, "This funding towards KWETB’s capital grant is very welcome. The funding will allow KWETB to procure necessary equipment, carry out minor works and complete required maintenance works on their campuses.
“The grant also allows for the further improvement in the standard of learning facilities, providing those who avail of further education and training with the first-class resources needed to realise their full potential.”
Funding is provided under Project 2040 and forms part of the ongoing investment in the further education and training (FET) sector.
Using this grant, ETBs will be able to carry out work such as upgrades to computer labs and science labs, replacement of apprenticeship equipment, roof works and planned improvement works of FET buildings.
