The North Kildare Beekeepers' Association (NKBKA) annual Beekeeping course will commence on Tuesday 11th March at 8pm.

The course ends with a practical session in one of the  association’s apiaries.

The course venue is the old cinema building at North Main Street in Naas (eircode is W91PKN1).

In order to do the course participants must be a paid member of NKBKA .

The annual membership of NKBKA runs from January to December annually and costs €35.

The course is included as part of the membership fee.

Those wishing to become a member are asked to log on to nkbka.com and click on 'Become a Member' in the top right hand corner and follow the directions.

Course details including dates as well as information on associated topics is available on the websites ‘Education'.

Open apiary demonstrations and visits visits in the associations’s apiaries will follow on Saturdays throughout the summer.

These are led by their most experienced Beekeepers - and again this is all included in the  membership fee - as are the monthly talks which take place throughout the year.

The course is a must for beekeepers no matter their level of experience.

“We would strongly advise new members not to purchase beekeeping equipment until they have had a face to face with a colony of bees,” added association PRO Brigid Monaghan.
