Safety should be improved outside Kildare schools

Measures taken to improve safety at the primary school in Ballycane, Naas

Road safety must be enhanced outside a number of primary schools in the County Kildare.

Three councillors - Tim Durkan, Brendan Wyse and William Durkan want some €300,000 of money from property tax to be used to pay for the works at schools in the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District area.

They say this should include include pencil bollards, school zone road markings and warning lights.

Kildare County Council has pointed out that the allocation of money collected from property tax is up to the elected councillors to decide.
