A father told Naas District Court he went to a European holiday destination to bring his psychotic son home.
The man told the court he was seeking protection from his son who is a drug abuser.
He alleged that his son has mental health issues and is aggressive at home.

The man said that his son assaulted him the day after he brought him home.
He became emotional during the hearing, telling the judge “he has broken my heart.”
The court was told the son had been away for three or four months “took drugs and went wild.”
Judge Desmond Zaidan granted an interim protection order. He told the applicant that if he feels his life is in danger he should contact the gardaí.
The judge said that if the man wanted one, he would grant a barring order instead but the applicant said a protection order would suffice. A protection order requires the person to behave but remains in the home whereas a barring order requires them to leave and not return.
The judge said he would get the gardaí to serve the order on the son, who was not present or represented, adding that if he breaks it he will go to prison.
He also adjourned the case for a fuller hearing to July 14.
