Judge directs gardaí to get shoes and socks for a man who appeared in Kildare court

A district court  judge directed the gardaí to buy shoes and socks for a man who appeared before him.

The man was in custody and wearing only socks for most of the duration of the Naas District Court sitting.

Defending barrister Desmond Hayes asked the judge to make the order adding “he’s going around in his socks all day.”

The man had indicated earlier he wore a size eight shoe.

The man was facing an allegation of assault.

Judge Desmond Zaidan made the order before remanding the defendant in custody to Cloverhill Prison.
