Sergeant Niall Smyth told a previous court hearing the defendant is in dispute with his aunt over land and he made a threat to kill her and her son. He further alleged that the defendant took her mobile phone and threw it on the ground in an attempt to break it.
He added that when two gardaí called to him to see about conducting an interview he became violent and “fought against the gardaí.”
He added that the gardaí were assaulted and the incident went on for a long period.
He further alleged the defendant tried to set a dog to attack the gardaí - but the dog did not attack.
He said one of the gardaí was out of work for some time and the other garda was out of work for a period.
Defending solicitor Tim Kennelly told the court the defendant does not accept the allegations.
“He says that he is the victim,” added Mr Kennelly.
Judge Desmond Zaidan noted that the defendant is presumed innocent.
A condition of bail which was granted is that the defendant does not enter property or land at Bawnogues which are the subject of probate.
Judge Zaidan told the defendant that details of any alibi that may be provided must be given to the prosecuting authorities in advance of any trial.
