Council to investigate 'safety issues' at busy Kildare junction

Kildare Co Council has said it will investigate 'safety issues' at a major junction in South Kildare.

The Council said the Athy Municipal District Engineer will investigate the junction of R448 and R747 at Timolin "to see what works can commence this year."

Councillor Mark Leigh called for the local authority to 'addresses safety issues at the junction'.

The politician also requested that the council improves the road surface outside Castledermot Playground, St
John’s Estate and Plunketstown this year.

The council said that this location is not on this year' works programme and that a funding stream would have to be identified for these works.

Another motion by Cllr Leigh called on the council to carry out road improvements on the Old Foxhill Road, Athy this year.

The council said there were currently no plans to carry out road works on this section of road this year.
