The public library building in Naas
There are no plans to provide information screens outside three public libraries in south Kildare.
Responding to a request by Cllr Veralouise Behan, KCC said there are internal information screens in the majority of main library branches and these are generally provided in the plans for future projects.

The screen information is created and uploaded by staff and includes information on library and arts services as well as events happening both locally and countywide.
There are currently two internal information screens in the Athy library providing constantly updated information.
Kildare county librarian Gillian Allen pointed out that the Athy, Ballitore and Castledermot buildings are protected structures and therefore have protected status and any proposal to include screens on the outside of the buildings or to locate them in the vicinity of the buildings would require planning permission.
A conservation architect would also be required to “identify appropriate locations and provide advice on obtaining the necessary planning approval.”
Ms Allen also added that there is currently no available funding to cover the cost of purchase, installation and associated costs.
She also said the Ballitore and Castledermot libraries are located in areas with little passing traffic and footfall.
