Two chainsaws and two drills were stolen from a property in South Kildare, according to a member of An Garda Síochána (AGS).

The incident was detailed on a KFM radio programme by Sergeant John Dunne of Newbridge Garda Station yesterday (Wednesday, March 27 last).

He explained that the burglary took place on a farmyard shed in the Woodlands region of Castledermot on Monday, March 24 last.

Sgt Dunne added that the incident took place between 12.45pm and 1pm, and noted gardaí received a report of "a black car with one male inside [of the vehicle] drove into the farmyard and left shortly after".

He further said that CCTV footage in relation to this incident is being reviewed by members of AGS based in Athy.

Lastly, Sgt Dunne concluded by urging anyone with information to contact Athy Garda Station on 059 863 4210.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a spokesperson for AGS provided the following response: "Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred on Monday, March 24, 2025 at a property in Castledermot, County Kildare at approximately 1pm.

"A number of items were taken.

"No arrests have been made."

The spokesperson concluded: "Investigations are ongoing."
