Over €4m has been announced for national roads funding for Co Kildare.
Local Fianna Fáil Minister James Lawless TD, welcoming the announcement, said: “The government announcement from Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien today that the Department of Transport will provide €633 million funding for national roads is an increase of €92 million on the funding provided in 2024.
“In addition to today’s funding announcement, national road funding under the current NDP is set to increase throughout the remainder of the decade.
“A separate allocation of approximately €33 million is being provided to local authorities throughout the country including Kildare County Council for regular maintenance of our National Roads.”
Minister Lawless continued: “The National Roads funding announced today of €4M for Kildare is on top of the €11M in funding that was recently allocated for Kildare Road restoration improvements and numerous safety improvement projects on our counties regional and rural roads.”
Key works to be carried out in Kildare include the following: NRO Improvement Supports - €2,010,000; M4 Bus priority measures Phase 2 - €450,000; and Motorway Lighting, Winter Maintenance and Route Lighting works- €350,000.
