A road in Clane is due to close for 12 weeks at the start of May.

The announcement was made today (April 1) by Kildare County Council (KCC), on behalf of Westin Homes Limited.

KCC said that it gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to close Capdoo Lane from Monday, May 5, 2025 to Monday, July 28, 2025.

According to KCC, the closure is being enacted in order to facilitate the "construction of a roundabout on the R-407 at ITM;687477, 728536 (centre point of roundabout) in conjunction with the construction of the new Link Road though the under construction housing development at Coach Road Meadows, Clane, County Kildare".

The Capdoo Lane will be closed from the R-407 (Kilcock / Clane Road) to Capdoo Park.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE

KCC also provided the following information relating to an alternative route: "As per the TMP dated March 20, 2025 along the R-407 and the R-403 via the Village of Clane.

"Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána.

"Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained."

KCC concluded: "Any objections / observations should be lodged in writing to the A / Senior Executive Officer, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces on the consultation portal on or before 5pm on Monday, April 7, 2025."
