A Nobel Prize winner and astronomer will deliver Maynooth University's (MU) 2025 Faculty of Science and Engineering Dean’s Lecture later this month.
Professor Brian Schmidt, who is renowned for his work on supernovae and the accelerating expansion of the universe, will deliver the lecture in the TSI Building of the Kildare-based university.
For his groundbreaking contributions to the understanding of the accelerating universe, Prof Schmidt was awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics, jointly with Adam Riess and Saul Perlmutter.
And on the day, Prof Schmidt will share his abundance of award-winning knowledge on the cosmos with those in attendance.

Titled 'The Universe from Beginning to End', Prof Schmidt's MU lecture will describe the journey that science has taken so far in order to understand our universe, as well as reflecting on some of the mysteries continue to puzzle modern scientists.
Attendees will also get a chance to ask questions at the end of the lecture.
MU has emphasised that while tickets for this event are free, they are also limited.

'The Universe from Beginning to End' will take place on Monday, April 14, 2025 and will commence at 6.30pm.
