Garda warning issued after fake Electric Picnic ticket sold in Kildare.
A member of An Garda Síochána (AGS) has issued a warning after a false Electric Picnic 2025 ticket was sold online to a Kildare resident.
Explaining the incident on KFM this morning (April 2) was Garda David Prendergast of Naas Garda Station, who said that the crime took place on Saturday, March 29 last.
Gda Prendergast added that the fake Electric Picnic 2025 ticket was sold "for a fairly high price", and that the injured party paid for the ticket via Revolut.
He also pointed out a similar incident in which a person saw a fraudulent ad on TikTok, which also related to fake concert tickets. Once the injured party paid (also via Revolut) the person who posted the fraudulent ad, they were "instantly blocked" by the account.
Gda Prendergast concluded by urging people to only purchase tickets through reputable retailers.
When asked by the Leinster Leader about this crime, a spokesperson for AGS responded: "Gardaí in Naas received a report of an alleged advance payment fraud on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
"Enquiries are ongoing at this time."
Similar to Gda Prendergast's advice, the spokesperson said AGS advises consumers "to exercise caution when considering buying any goods online, particularly through unregulated online market places not hosted in this jurisdiction".
Anyone with information relating to this incident can contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300.
