A young Kildare make-up artist said it's her dream to represent Ireland in an international swimsuit contest - which has a top prize of $80,000.

Alicia Callaghan, 26, from Naas, is currently a finalist in the Miss Bikini Ireland competition which takes place next month. 

The winner gets the opportunity to compete in the Swimsuit USA International pageant in Mexico in October which has a top prize of $80,000 or €74,300.

Alicia said: "Modelling is something I’ve always wanted to get into.
"Being in-front of the camera is definitely my favourite thing to do - it’s when I’m at my happiest and most confident.
"I can’t wait for the rest of the experience with the Miss Bikini Ireland team and all the girls.
"I am going to give this competition my all while making new friends for life along the way.
 "It would be an absolute dream come true to represent Ireland at Miss Swimsuit USA.  Follow your dreams!!

The grand final of the 13th annual Miss Bikini Ireland contest will take place in Dublin in May.

The competition welcomes contestants from all nationalities but they must live in Ireland. Mums are welcome as well as women with tattoos. There is no height restriction and no previous experience in modelling is required.

Previous winners have had success to date with appearances at New York Fashion Week, Cannes Film Festival, London Fashion Week and other events across Ireland and around the world.

As part of Miss Bikini Ireland each year, the organisers hold workshops with contestants on topics such as professional photography shoots.
