A speeding driver tested positive for cannabis when stopped by Naas gardai in Kildare this week.

The Naas Roads Policing unit operated a speed check on the M9 earlier this week and detected a car travelling at a speed of 147km/h in a 120km/h zone.

Having tested the driver for drugs, the driver failed for cannabis and was arrested for drug driving.

There was also no NCT on the car and the two rear tyres were excessively worn, leading to the vehicle being impounded by gardai.

FCPNs (Fixed Charge Penaly Notices) were issued for no NCT and excessively worn tyres and a court appearance will follow for Drug driving.

According to An Garda Síochána Kildare's Facebook page, “this is a reminder of how crucial it is to maintain vehicles and abide by traffic laws—not just for avoiding penalties but for everyone’s safety.”
