A Kildare pub is set for a major transformation.
Finlay’s Bar and Off-Licence on the Dublin Road in Monasterevin has plans for an €859,000 extension and refurbishment project.
Finlay’s is looking to enhance its outdoor hospitality offerings with a 102 square metre beer garden.
The new outdoor area will include a motorised pergola roof system which will be closed when it rains.
Also in the designs is new external furniture, and a perimeter enclosure.
A significant aspect of the proposal is the construction of a new 127.5 square metre single-storey rear extension.
This addition will house a dedicated ancillary function room, keg store, plant room, and new restroom facilities.
The extension will feature a combination flat and hipped roof design with two Velux windows and seven solar tubes to enhance natural lighting and energy efficiency.
Plans also include a 50 square metre first-floor residential extension built above the existing ground floor, expanding accommodation capacity within the building.

The bar’s exterior will also receive a facelift, including a new ground floor shopfront and signage at the secondary entrance, as well as the retention of existing double doors leading to the outdoor space.
The plans propose the installation of two new first-floor windows and the replacement of sash hardwood windows on the ground floor East and West facades, and the first-floor East facade.
Additional works include the creation of a covered bin store, a plant room, and general upgrades to the rear yard, according to Building Information Ireland database.
